Original Dimensions: 48 3/4" x 36 3/8"
Location: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York
About Artwork: (1911) "The idealized woman was a favorite subject at the turn-of-the-century, and Alexander found it particularly suited to his temperament. Alexander achieved his first international success as an artist in Paris during the early 1890s with a series of elegant figure paintings of idealized women in interior settings. Although painted over two decades after Alexander's initial success with this genre, "The Ring" is a good example of this subject. This picture was first exhibited in 1911 at the National Academy of Design in New York." - (The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York)
